Toronto Blue Jays - Dunedin
Now the Spring Training home for the Toronto Blue Jays for more than 40 years, Dunedin Stadium stands the test of time for the experience of watching the best in the game today prepare for the regular season. With renovations due to be complete for the 2019 season, it will only get better.
Situated in the southwestern part of the city (literally a two minute drive to the shoreline or downtown) Dunedin Stadium has seen every player in the history of the Blue Jays organization come to Dunedin for Spring Training, as it's been the only Spring home for Toronto since the expansion team started up in 1977.
Situated on Douglas Ave., the stadium is surrounded by a quiet neighborhood that sits next to the Dunedin Public Library and Curtis Fundamental Elementary School. When you walk in, you will be able to see that day's starting line-ups on a giant scorecard behind the home-plate seats, and if you head down towards right field, you will see a wall filled with the names of Blue Jays players who "graduated" to the big leagues after playing in Dunedin with the team's minor league affiliate, aptly named the Dunedin Blue Jays.
Fans will see that even though they are far away from their home in Canada, that great memories from the past are strewn throughout the park, with memorabilia from the great Blue Jays teams of old, including the teams that won consecutive World Championships in 1992 and 1993. Also, keeping in the tradition of what the Blue Jays do during the regular season, both the American and Canadian national anthems are sung before every game, symbolizing the Blue Jays as Major League Baseball's sole team in the Great White North.
The Blue Jays have a loyal fanbase in Florida and numerous followers who head down from Canada to Dunedin every year to watch their team play. Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, named by Baseball America as "One of the Top Five Spring Training Stadiums to Watch a Game," is the perfect example of the classic baseball field experience in a modern baseball world, and shows exactly what small town baseball is all about.
